Rev. Oscar Crear
Pastor
Rev. Oscar Crear
have served as preacher for funerals for 14 consecutive years. Over time and with experience with the grieving my style has developed in such a way as to earn us a degree notoriety.
I am "Chapel Pastor" or "Funeral Home Chaplain". This is by definition a clergy person attached to a private or particular chapel, institution, ship, or branch of the armed forces. In that we are mostly attached to a particular Funeral Home, we are the Chapel Pastor, or Funeral Home Chaplain.
The eulogies that I have delivered have blessed many people from every walk of
lite.
A few months ago, I was approached by three different people who had no connection to one another. Each of them had the same message. "You need to share with others the benefit of your experience and expertise before you retire."
The Lord then began to formulate this vision.
knew that there were other preachers who served in this capacity.
This gave birth what I propose to you today, The Fellowship of Funeral Home Chaplains.
The Goal if this group will be to:
Provide fellowship of like-minded people.
Provide research and idea sharing that will enhance what we do.
Provide training and certification to do grief counseling.
Send families home to heal and with tools to work with. The FFHC will seek out those in need and provide these tools at no cost.
In the city of Chicago hundreds are laid to rest, go home to be with the Lord or just die. What ever you choose to call it, they are not with us anymore.
Statistics may show how many people die, but not the number left to regroup, heal and be alright.
Many of these people do not have benefit of having or even knowing a pastor.
This is where we come in. The average funeral home/service have a list of pastors or preachers they call to provide this service.
How significant is this?
From the time a person is
pronounced deceased until the time they are buried/cremated their families will encounter approximately
7 professional persons. Based on the cause/details of the death, we are the last professionals these people will encounter.
We will have the last words to summarize this amazing journey called life.
Your assignment is to summarize the life of the deceased and give the family tools to start the journey into their new normal.
What an awesome responsibility and trust!
